Air Resistance:
Air resistance (also known as drag) is a force that tends to slow down the movement of an object through a sort of liquid or gas. As a moving object pushes gas and or liquid out of the way, the gas or liquid pushes back on the object. It is caused by air, and the force acts in the opposite direction to an object moving through the air.
This drag force is always opposite to the object's motion, and unlike friction between two solid surfaces, the drag force increases as the object accelerates. It is when air particles hit the front of the object, slowing it down. The more surface area, the more air particles hit it and a greater amount of resistance is produced.
We see this force in action when we see a plane fly over us, when a vehicle drive past on the street, or even if you go or watch someone skydive.
